27-year-old Kevin Kugel, pastry chef at Café Königsforst in Cologne, won the German preselection for the “World Chocolate Masters 2013”. After graduating his apprenticeships as cook and pastry chef with honors, he worked for the German Callebaut Ambassador Lothar Buss from 2010 until 2011. In 2007 he won his first competition, the Carlo-Wildt-Cup. Now he prevailed in a thrilling competition against 6 talented chocolate artisans. His extraordinary demonstration of craftsmanship and creativity could convince the jury and Kugel became “German Chocolate Master 2013”.
